(1) World Robofest Championship on May 8

Sixty-five teams that have advanced from 30 qualifying events and three regional competitions will compete in the Robofest World Championship Saturday, May 8, from 9 am to 4 pm in the Ridler Field House at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield. The events are open to the public. Admission is free. Parking is free. There will be free raffles for spectators. Spectators will decide Exhibition People's Choice Award. Obtain a form to vote for your People's Choice Exhibition when checking-in.

 

The Joint Center for Robotics at the Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in Warren will award up to eight development grants to Robofest exhibition teams that demonstrate creative and innovative robotics projects with entrepreneurship components.

(2) Wanted: Judges and Volunteers

Robofest is in need of volunteers to staff the World Championship. To volunteer for the event on Sat., May 8, click on the following link:

(3) Do not dismantle your robots yet - IGVC Invitational in June and others in July

Robofest teams are invited to have an afterglow competition at Oakland University in Michigan during the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) (http://www.igvc.org/), June 4 ~ June 7. Since the event will be held in a large tent, lighting adjustments may be needed.  Details about the registration will be announced after World Robofest. The IGVC event is open to the public. Some Robofest teams will have another chance to show off robotics projects to the public at the Maker Faire Detroit 2010, Henry Ford museum, July 31 � August 1, 2010

 

(4) Robotics Summer Camps at Lawrence Tech

Autonomous Robotics using L2Bots with Java Programming: July 12-16

The following RoboMath camps are being planned at LTU:

         for Coaches and Teachers with NXTG: June 29, 4 ~ 8pm

         for Coaches and teachers with C: June 30, 4 ~ 8pm

         for Students with NXTG: July 8, 10am ~ 3pm

         for 8th~ 12th grade Students with C: July 9, 10am ~ 3pm

(5) Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation Camp Infinity

Girls aged nine to 13 years old in the fourth through seventh grades from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties in Michigan are invited to apply to attend the MCWTF Girls� Technology Camp, June 28 to July 2, 2010 at Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, MI. Applications and additional information can be found at www.mcwt.org. Hurry, camp fills quickly!
