April 26, 2003. Robofest has been playful learning environments for science, engineering, and technology education. We are looking for sponsors for the 2003 event. Registration for the 2002 FIRST LEGO League season is open through Sept. 30. Please check out at http://www.usfirst.org/jrobtcs/flego.htm (3) Robofest Summer Camp was a very unique opportunity to learn from each other. Ten teams including a team from New Hampshire participate in. The winner of advanced division was from Walled Lake and the team was using NQC. RCX code division Champion came from Warren; and RCX code Runner-Up was from Detroit Cerveny Middle School. After the competition, the winner of each division presented the team's solution to the participants by showing and explaining the source code on a projection screen. (4) There’s a new book for the LEGO Mindstorm’s enthusiasts called the “LEGO Mindstorms Interfacing” published by McGraw-Hill. The book authored by a local Electrical Engineer named Don Wilcher takes the reader on interesting journey into building electronic circuits and software controls for operating a Mindstorms robot. (5) Also, Don Wilcher will be at the New Detroit Science Center September 21,2002 to conduct a live demo of Mindstorms Robotic Interfacing Techniques. The demonstration will run from 1-3:00 pm. A small quantity of books will be available for purchase and a signature as well. (6) Looking for Lego robot teachers Commerce Elementary in Commerce Township is looking for a Lego robot instructor for their enrichment program. Their program would consist of 4th graders on Fridays from 2:45-3:45 for 8-10 weeks. They are considering to offer the program to their 5th graders as well on Tuesdays from 2:15-3:15. If you are interested in teaching these classes, please send a resume to Ms. Burton at Burtonfamily@mindspring.com (7) LTU is planning a Robofest 2002 Coach Appreciation Luncheon on Sat. Oct. 19 from 11:00am till 1:30pm. If you were a coach this year, please mark your calendar.
