(1) ROBOPARADE on Nov 19, at MCC * Spectator Judges Wanted * Bring Cans

6th Annual Thanksgiving RoboParade will be held at Macomb Community College Expo Center on

Nov. 19 (Sat.) from 12:00pm ~ 3:00pm (Time for spectators)

 

Please mark your calendar. The annual indoor RoboParade features fully autonomous robot floats, which follow a parade route, detect robots in front of them, and are constructed and programmed by student teams in 4th through 12th grades.

 

Everyone is invited to be a judge to select four People's Choice Awards. Spectator Judges will enter raffle prize drawings automatically. For more information, please visit www.robofest.net and click on RoboParade link.

 

To honor the seasonís spirit of cooperation, harmony, and community, we are asking that all teams and spectators bring any 14.5~15.5oz cans of food to donate to Gleanerís Food Bank to the parade.† Some of the cans will be used to construct a model Ren Cen along the parade course. Thank you for helping us to help others!

 

(2) Robofest 2012 Kick Off Meetings in December

13th season annual Robofest 2012 will be kicked-off on Mon, Dec. 5, 2011, 2:30pm ~ 4pm (EST) at LTU in Southfield in Buell Mgt. Building, room M218. Rules will be announced, 2012 game will be unveiled, and team registration will begin.

 

Anyone can participate in the meeting online using Wimba. The direct link will be on our website at www.robofest.net. To join the online meeting, we recommend you test the connection before the meeting. Identical meetings will be held on Fri, Dec. 9, 2011, 6:30pm ~ 8pm; and Sat., Dec. 17, 2011, 10am ~ 11:30am. (3) Robofest Seeking Site Hosts for 2012 Competition Season

Robofest is seeking site hosts for the 2012 Competition Season. Qualifying Competition Sites are needed in Feb ~ March of 2012. Interested individuals, organizations, or schools should check out www.robofest.net and click on *For Site Hosts* link.† You may also contact Jerri Ureel, [email protected] (248)204-3568. This is a great opportunity to showcase your school/organization, program, and facilities.† Be a part of the movement to advance STEM learning with autonomous robotics!

 

(4) Students Seeking Robofest Team to Join

Two brothers in the Southfield area are looking for a Robofest team to join in the Jr. Division. If you have room on your team for two more, please contact their mother, Demetra Gleton at dgleton @ courts.mi.gov.

 

An 11 year old in the Farmington Hills area is looking for a team to join.† Please contact his father, Gary Ledermann at gledermann @ twmi.rr.com if you are looking for another team member in this area.

 

A 5th grade student in Dearborn is looking for a local team to join.† Please contact his mother, Allison Burke at burkeal @ gmail . com if you have an opening on your team.

Some Robofest documents had World Robofest 2012 date as May 12, 2012. This date has changed to May 19, 2012. Please change/mark your calendar.
